How? MHFA

I am a qualified trainer in the delivery of the First Aid for Mental Health courses regulated by First Aid Awards (FAA), accredited by SQA at Levels 4, 5, 6.

As an alternative, I am also accredited by NHS Scotland Healthy Working Lives to instruct Scotland’s Mental Health First Aider (SMHFA) course.

Each level builds on Mental Health awareness and understanding with Level 4 – 1/2 day, Level 5 – 1 day, and Level 6 – 2 day.  They cover many areas including how to spot the signs and symptoms of someone experiencing MH issues, depression, anxiety, and recovery.  The benefits of the knowledge provided during training are not limited to colleagues.  It can also assist with supporting family, friends and community.

I will deliver in-house training to your business dependent on your requirements.

There are also shared or public training sessions run periodically throughout the year.  This can be a more cost effective method for smaller businesses, ensuring you have trained First Aiders in your team.  These sessions are held in Cumnock, Glasgow or Paisley.

Previous experience or qualifications in the field of mental health are not required for this course.

On completion of the course, you will be provided a copy of

  • your own Mental Health First Aid manual for reference and Qualification Certificate
  • Handout detailing support and signposting options.
There is no restriction to who can attend however, I would ask that anyone currently experiencing issues or illness have a chat with us first as it may be too soon to talk about some of the topics being covered.

There is an increased drive to provide Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) in all businesses.  EPIC Wellbeing can provide Mental Health Awareness Sessions to all of your employees to begin the process of breaking the stigma of talking about mental health.  Awareness sessions are a great pre-cursor to training your staff to become MHFAs, enabling signposting to any colleague in need of support.

Why not make EPIC Wellbeing your preferred trainer – try us out , a professional mental health practitioner providing the course could make all the difference!
